Bond Propositions
A School Bond is like a long-term loan, similar to a mortgage, used exclusively for building, renovating, or equipping school facilities. State law prohibits Bond funds from being used for teacher salaries or day-to-day operations.
A VATRE is a Voter Approved Tax Rate Election. A Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election allows voters to decide whether to approve a tax rate that generates additional revenue for the district’s Maintenance & Operations (M&O) budget, which funds staffing, programs, and daily operations.
The bond proposals were developed by the Long Range Planning Committee. The committee studied the academic program needs, transportation fleet including buses and police vehicles, instructional technology and technology infrastructure, security infrastructure , facility assessments, enrollment projections, and financial data, aligning its recommendations with Cypress-Fairbanks ISD's maintenance and operations plans for servicing and replacing high-cost items. State-mandated updates, like improved safety on school buses, were also factored into the recommendations. You can learn more about the LRPC by clicking here.
